Indo para os Andes...

O que seria melhor para um geólogo do que visitar uma cordilheira em formação? A sensação de estar em meio aquelas montanhas vivas, que crescem a cada segundo com a força da terra que as impulsiona é incrível. Em janeiro deste ano estive em Mendoza na Argentina e não pude deixar de visitar essa paisagem incrível.

O vilarejo que vêem (ou parte dele ao menos), se chama Las Cuevas. É o limite exato entre a Argentina e o Chile, sendo separados por um túnel. Ao ver essa paisagem não pude me deter a fotografar... CLICK!

What would be better for a geologist than visiting a mountain range like the Andes? The feeling of being at that living mountains which are rising each second with the power of the earth is amazing. I went to Mendoza (Argentina) in january and couldn't lose this spot.

The village which you see (at least part of it) is called "Las Cuevas". It's the border village between Argentina and Chile, separated by a tunnel. Looking at this landscape I couldn't help myself on taking a photo! CLICK!

Foi quando comprei minha Canon A510 que comecei realmente a me interessar por fotografia. Não apenas pelo ato de fotografar, isso já fazia a tempo, mas foi quando me decidi por sair da mesmice das automáticas e partir para o "maravilhoso mundo dos controles manuas". É fato que em 90% das situações (inclusive essa) usamos o modo "P", mas de fato ter o controle da velocidade e abertura nas mãos dá outra cara às fotos.

Voltando de um dia de campo da disciplina de estratigrafia na Bacia Potiguar, foi que vislumbrei o por do sol no sertão refletido em um açude. Bonito foi ver como, mesmo em uma terra árida e seca, o astro rei, resistente e imponente como o sertanejo que habita essa terra, dá seu espetáculo final se despedindo de mais um dia.


When I bought my brand new Canon A510 I did got interested about photography. Not that I didn't like to photograph before, but when I had it in my hands I felt I was not tied to that "point and shoot" routine anymore, I was free to create with the manual controls. Although nowadays I've been using most of the time the "P" mode, which is easier and shows nice results most of the time.

Returning from a field work day related to the stratigraphy course at the Potiguar Basin, I had the glance of one of the prettiest sunsets reflected in a lake I had ever seen .It's lovely to see how nature shows up, even in a land desert and dry. And how the sun, as well as the men who dwell at this land, tough and majestic, shows its "grand finale" at the end of the day.

Já havia pouco mais de uma semana que estava na Bahia, fazendo um estágio na Yamana Gold INC. na área de pesquisa de ouro. Felizmente os gestores da empresa acharam por bem relocar eu e outro estagiário da UFBA (Judiron, vulgo Falcon) para a cidade de Pindobaçu, onde nossa principal atividade era prospecção em campo (e o que mais um geólogo poderia desejar?) .

Dentre as diversas atividades de "sobe morro e quebra pedra..." encontramos belezas pelo caminho, como a Cachoeira do Poço Pelado. Apesar de não ser uma cachoeira muito alta estava com um maravilhoso volume de água. Momento ideal para um click e para contemplar a paisagem. Pena que não pudemos ficar mais tempo.. O dever nos chama! Ao trabalho.

There was about a week I had moved to Bahia to take part on a trainee program at the Yamana Gold INC., a worldwide leader on gold mining, in order to learn more about the gold survey. Fortunately instead of staying at the mine itself, I was moved to a small city near Jacobina called Pindobaçu, with me another trainee from UFBA called Judiron (aka Falcon), our main function was the field gold prospection.

Among all the "walking, running, climbing and hammering" stuff, we were lucky to find amazing places like the "Poço Pelado Falls". A special moment for a "CLICK" and to contemplate the place. Sorry We couldn't spend more time .. back to work!
